It also highlights the Kashmir issue that is the constant source of conflict between the two leading countries of South Asia i.e., India and Pakistan. Post 9/11 era has seen many important developments impacting upon the existing contours of strategic stability in South Asia with U.S waging a war against Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and coercing Pakistan to participate in it. Whereas relations between Pakistan and &nbsp;US worsened over time, this decade has seen a more strengthened US-India relationship. The current partnership between the two has far reaching implications for Pakistan's position and interests in the region. Some light has also been shed on the efficacy of Confidence Building Measures in dealing with regional conflicts and the involvement of great powers in South Asia. It is imperative that US being an influential power should continue to play a balanced and judicious role for the peace and stability of this region.</p> ER -
